The Public Health Advocacy Institute of WA (PHAIWA) promotes, develops and supports public health advocacy in Western Australia. It is an independent public health voice based within Curtin University, with a range of funding partners. The Institute aims to raise the public profile and understanding of public health, develop local networks and create a statewide umbrella organisation capable of influencing public health policy and political agendas.

The McCusker Centre for Action on Alcohol and Youth (MCCAAY) aims to reduce the levels of drinking, harmful drinking and alcohol problems among young people. Key objectives of the McCusker Centre include raising awareness of:
- The levels of harmful drinking and harm from alcohol among young people;
- The actions we know can be effective in preventing harm from alcohol; and
- The need for action without delay.
